Hey, all! In my latest blog post over at lionsandthieves.blogspot.ca, I give some tips to players to help keep games fun, because it shouldn't just be the GM's job. The responsibilities of the player are often overlooked. One of the most common things new players are worried about is being "bad" at the game. My response is always that you can't really be bad at D&D. You can, however, get better at it.
Having everyone act with the right conduct at the table can encourage creativity a lot more than fleshing out character backstory. Think about that one player in your group who you know is always right there with you. You know they've got your back, and having them in your game brings a sense of comfort and confidence. They're an encouraging presence, and that helps creativity flow.
What are some player traits you've noticed that encourage creativity at the table?
