I'm tired of not having a group big enough for d20 D&D. I really still like the game, but there are only 2 other people who show up week-in & week-out. The other 2 are unreliable, and 1 other has quit altogether (unless and until we run D&D "his way"--which I intend to do--right after I ice skate to Hell!). Added to the 2 that moved away, and there's a real dearth of players. Males it hard for me to run D&D 3.5. I tried it with them playing 2 characters each and adding some classes from other d20 games, but it just fizzled out. We made it through 2 adventures of The Shackled City. But even now at "just" 5th-6th level, it feels like an arms race in a war of attrition. I just couldn't run the next inevitable dungeon crawl right away. Fortunately, 1 of the 2 offered to run Systems Failure. He is a really good GM in the Palladium system. I don't know how he does it (I couldn't), but I am kind of looking forward to it this week and for a few more weeks. Of course, I would rather play his Omega World d20 or Star Wars d20 games, but he's excited about Systems Failure. I think I might offer up a little Judge Dredd 20 next. I really like that game. Sadly, I am probably the only one. Otherwise, I may try to convert a D&D d20 module to Savage Worlds. Failing that, I'm kind of out of ideas for an RPG that fits this group of 1d3+1 players.
