Tolkien Dwarves

Most of the abilities are based from direct quotes in the books, but I couldn't immediately find references to some of the stuff mentioned by ICE (notably, the northern "half-dwarves" and high elemental resistance) or Decipher (their special bonus with firemaking).

The idea of half-dwarves is, as far as I know, not part of the Tolkein canon. The idea of dwarves being good with fire begins with The Hobbit, just before Bilbo and company meet the trolls. It comes up, tangentially, in LOTR when the group is trying to avoid going through Moria. Gandalf is forced to make flame magically because even Gimli cannot do it, if memory serves.
