Am I right in assuming that a 18th level wizard can cast imbue familiar with spell ability and transfer 6 5th level spells to his familiar? And can he transfer metamagic spells, like a quickened magic missile? And the spell makes a big deal of how you lose your spell slots if your familiar doesn't die or it casts your spells. What if the spell duration runs out or it is dispelled, surely you don't lose the spell slots forever, right? Why does the demilich have turn resistance +20 when it is immune to supernatural abilities? And is there a rule that prevents a +30 spellcraft item (market price 18,000 gp) from being used with epic spells? I'm only asking because the rod of epic spellcaster (+10 insight bonus to spellcraft checks with epic spells, market price 245,400 gp) seems like crap in comparison.

A +30 Spellcraft item will add to your rolls for Spellcraft Checks. Spellcraft checks are used for determining if you can cast an Epic spell or not. You roll 1d20 + Spellcraft Ranks + Spellcraft Key Ability Modifier + Miscellaneous Spellcraft check modifiers. This is your Spellcraft check. In short, yes, it can be done, and it is meant to happen by the rules.

An epic spellcaster (or, one casting Epic Spells, at least) would most certainly use such an item, since its one of the best tools available to him to use for his art. For another angle on the situation, would you expect the best armorsmith in the realms to use a stove fire and kitchen shears to construct the King's ceremonial Masterwork Full Plate?

Dunno bout the other questions though, don't have my books available.
