Too much stuff in General!

Hey, I'm having trouble keeping up with General these days... maybe we need a sub-forum for just DM stuff ("DM's Cave" or something) to siphon off the Plots & Places, RBDM, Iron Foo, and other players-not-invited type of stuff?

That, or we need to extend how many threads are on each page... which might just slow down the server.

or flip to the second or third page.

frequently, when i am feeling non-creative i just push a page number from the bottom an review some old stuff.

i like the new, quicker turn over system. i think in the long run it will encourage people to look past the top 10 or so posts, past the first page and past general.
i think that in turn will increase the already great level of (discourse? conversation?) sharing.

i will keep coming here and bugging all of you if it goes to 2 forums and i am only allowed in one, but i am heavily in favor of most of the changes i see around here.

General gets way more traffic on this board than on others. I wonder if it's because it's the first thing you see once you scroll down past the big ad banner?

That's what I do now. My point isn't that I'm too dumb to cope with the current system, my point is that the current system puts too much stuff in General -- and worse, too many kinds of stuff.

I was a fan of the old Plots & Places forum, even though it was tragically low-traffic, because it was so easy to search for ideas -- as a DM, it's nice to be able to find those quickly. I'd like to have a forum that combines that with IronDM-type discussions, and any other good ideas that DMs might like.

I wouldn't mind if House Rules were folded into this proposed forum -- it's low enough traffic as is.

In my opinion, the solution will be upgrading the server and eventually going back to 40 threads per page.

I hadn't thought so, but I love having OT stuff in its own forum and P&P threads in General Discussion. It's pretty close to an unqualified success; they turn over faster, but they are getting 2-4x the number of responses that they would get in P&P. Even better, the cool ideas are inspiring people. I wouldn't want to change that.
