Dawning Star: Operation Quick Launch is the new d20 sci-fi book published by Blue Devil Games who also brought you the double 2004 ENnie-nominated Poisoncraft: The Dark Art (the best RPG book on poison ever!) Blue Devil Games is run by Justin D. Jacobson and Michael W. Ruiz, two brilliant and hard-working guys.

I've been asked to put up a thread that comes up with reasons why you should check out Dawning Star. So I'm going to give you specific reasons right here why I think this is an awesome book.

Here we go:

1. The raving reviews Dawning Star has received...

"Anyone looking for something to use with d20 Future has got a good product right here for them... 4 stars!" - EN World

"I've been fond of everything I've seen from the Blue Devil so far, but this takes the cake... 4.5 stars!" - GamingReport

"Utterly fascinating... compelling... an 'A'." - RPG.net

"Dawning Star: Operation Quick Launch is the most stunning book that I've seen over the last six months. It's a terrific resource that any gamer interested in a cohesive, interesting science fiction setting should own." - Silven Crossroads

2. This beautiful introduction by Nick Mulherin at Silven Crossroads:

"Having been forced to evacuate Earth, a shipful of human refugees stumbled across the planet of Eos when they encountered an interstellar gate and were separated from the rest of their convoy. Finding that Eos was roughly similar to Earth, they landed their ship and began settling it, building the city of Dawning Star out of their transport. The city of Dawning Star eventually became the Dawning Star Republic and grew, with dissident elements forming their own settlements (the Faction Camps) elsewhere. Eventually, the refugees came into contact with the Velin (a local race of humans that claim to have been on planet since the dawn of time) and the ancient ruins of a great civilization."

3. We only carry the best of the indie press at Indie Press Revolution and this is a definite winner.

4. Dawning Star is the only full-scale science-fiction campaign setting built on d20 Modern and powered by d20 Future.

5. The production values are top-notch. The binding and paper quality are excellent.

6. The illustrations by Danilo Moretti are superb.

7. You get FREE shipping in the U.S. and discounted shipping abroad when you order now.

8. Bursting with information, Dawning Star (208 pages) is an absolute steal at $29.95!

9. Helios Rising (350 pages) is coming out soon.

10. Justin and his team are dedicated to quality and Dawning Star is no exception.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It is really that great. If you don't like it, then next time you see me throw the book at me. But please don't throw any old book at me, it's go to be Dawning Star, okay? I'm that confident you will enjoy reading and using this book.

Okay, I just read the Supporting advertisers at EN World (WARNING: Rant) thread, that has been closed, but you nonetheless persist with this one. I have no problem with Dawning Star being an excellent setting, but I don't like proselytism and evangelists who come to me to tell me which faith I should have. Sorry, but I suggest this thread to be at least put in the publisher / press release forum.

Too late, the damage has already been done in your other thread.

Throwing a tantrum and threatening to pull advertising from EN World does not garner any positive interest from me. I'd consider myself your target audience: loves sci-fi, visits here :) , has buckets of disposable income, and big impulse shopper.

Now, not so much. Best of luck.

(I would have put this in the other thread but it, sadly, has been closed.)

Please don't punish Blue Devil Games for the actions of someone else. Justin's a good guy and I'm confident that he had nothing to do with either this thread or the other thread.

You're quite right, Phil. Shortsighted of me.

Should I see the product at my FLGS, I'll happily give it a look, just like any other new product gracing their shelves.

Meh...I'll wait for Rocketship Empires from StoryART games, if they ever come out with it. I read the Dawning Star info PDF and it turned me off. It's not the type of sf setting that I would enjoy.

Also, I wanted to comment on the rant. That was really bad form. If I worked at Blue Devil, you'd not be my favorite person right now. The rant probably cost them a few customers. It was an uphill battle for me to even want to read that PDF.

If I was Blue Devil, then I would be formally disavowing ol' Ed right about now.
