The important survival tip I learned in my dedicated (half hour) of playing halo 3 is:

10: Do not stand staring at the sky/roof while someone shoots you in the back and runs over your body.

9. Mongoose vs. Warthog; don't try it.

This one is basic, yet I always fall victim too...

8) Never charge a man with a shot gun or plasma sword.

7) If you know you are about to die, throw every grenade you have.

6. If playing head to head then good wpn combos are the Needler or Dual brute pistols.

8b. Never enter melee with a man holding a brute hammer !
