You know, McFarlane figures are always pretty cool looking. But I'm starting to not like them. They'e moved away from being action figures and into being slightly poseable statues. I don't like that trend. It seems all action figures are sliding towards that point. I just would think that there was a balance that could be struck between detail and poseability, and playability. Even the McFarlane figs I own that are pretty poseable have problems. The joints become really loose really fast and the whole figure becomes floppy and won't stand on its own. I don't get it. I don't even like play with the things constantly. If i wanted statues, I'd rather pay a little more for a solid statue rather than a plastic preposed "action" figure that will most likely have some joint flop about.
The new Star Wars figures are heading towards this trend too, now coming with diorama bases (which isn't a bad thing) and being preposed in some action that makes it impossible for them to stand in any otehr position or without the aid of the base.
I swear if i had a barrel of money lying around I'd start my own toy company that would produce action figures that both looked good and played good.
