Battle royale??
Like the movie Battle Royale, or for less niche audiences, The Hunger Games, or for people under 25, Fortnite.

I.e. a bunch of people start in an area with no much, but there are weapons/supplies either in that area or dropped, and the number of people is rapidly whittled down by them dying (mostly to each other, mostly intentionally) until just a few are left, and a very small number (usually but not always 1) is the "victor" or sole survivor. Usually the arena is shrinking over time as well, to force them into contact (and people who fail to move fast enough will die). Often there are monsters/traps/etc. as well.

I have to think it'll be a meatgrinder of a funnel to get those down to manageable numbers pretty fast.
They literally call it out as a "battle royale" and explain that they're going to kill each other in the video, which normally only has one winner (or maybe a very small number of co-winners, c.f. Hunger Games) so it pretty much has to be, yes. They'll be fighting each other - either within or without the groups they're in or both. With fifteen teams of 5 it'll presumably be team on team. No doubt some monsters, the arena shrinking and so on will kill people too. One easy funnel with a space station is "place about to vent to vacuum, but not enough vac suits for everyone".

Yeah, lots of good ways to shrink the playfield combined with a ticking clock.
