So..that's supposed to be the battle of Salamis and the woman in black is Artemisia who was a persian commander? Is this supposed to take place at the same time as the first movie?

Really excited about this, though I really do think that Gerard Butler made the 300 film - and without him it simply won't be as good. Furthermore, I feel that this film looks a lot more stylised judging from the trailer, so possibly not as good.

I think it's supposed to be prequel, concurrent event and sequel rolled into one - so, some backstory on the rise of the Persian Empire, the Battle of Marathon and death of Darius, Xerxes coming to power, the battle of Salamis, and the aftermath of both Salamis and Thermopylae.
