A LARP docu that sounds sorta intriguing...

Slay Normalcy, Save the World. MONSTER CAMP is a rare and fascinating glimpse into the world of live-action role playing ("LARPing"), a real-life version of the videogame phenomenon World of Warcraft. In this award-winning doc, gamer stereotypes are simultaneously shattered and confirmed. For 48 consecutive hours-- there are no breaks, not even for sleep -- immerse yourself in a world completely unlike our own. A world built upon fantasy, chivalry, and imagination; a place where you can be anything, dress however, have almost any power. A world where software engineers, department store managers, and high school students live as warriors, sorcerers, and villains. It’s a place that lets you transform yourself, perhaps becoming the person you wish you really were. Welcome to MONSTER CAMP, the true story of NERO Seattle, one of over 60 LARPing franchises with thousands upon thousands of members in North America.

Interesting that LARP is now characterised by the media as 'real life world of warcraft' rather than 'real life dungeons and dragons'

I thought it was interesting that the film is a documentary, but the Apple trailers page lists is as a Comedy. Apparently somebody doesn't realize the film isn't just a joke (I blame "The Office" for confusing people ;) ).

As someone who used to LARP I am interested in seeing how the whole film portrays the people and the LARP itself. From the trailer I don't think it is going to do much beyond reinforce the stereotypes, but honestly since the sterotype is pretty darn accurate in my experience, I will just be looking to see if it takes a "look at those idiot dorks" perspective, a "we are just regular people that others unfairly make fun of" perspective, or if it tries to keep things non-judgemental.
