Transmute troll to elf! does he still drool?

Wouldn't that kind of suggest that the Disguise skill is the one that should be used here.

Yeah, kind of! :D

Also I find it highly suspicious, that my rogue will almost automatically see through such a disguise with her insane spot rating. I mean, +10 to disguise isn't exactly much, if you effectively are a member of another race, unless you happen to be a master of disguise already. Maybe +30 would be more appropriate.

Thinking off this, disguise must include manners and the like, because from looks alone it would be rather hard to see through such a 'perfect' disguise.

Bluff makes a lot of sense to me, too.

Don't forget that Disguise is opposed by Spot, which is cross-class for most classes. A +10 bonus means a whole lot more when the 20th level wizard with 10 wisdom only has +13 to spot checks - and that only if he's maxed out his ranks, and has his familiar near by.

You're losing your touch, Forrester. With a thread title like this one, I was expecting something from you along the lines of "Whaddya mean, does he still drool? Does he _now_ drool is what you want to ask!"

Hong "and wouldn't "Whad'd'yar" be a great Realmsian name, while we're at it?" Ooi

So if you're right, I can't help but notice that shapechanging creatures like some dragons have a great bluff skill, but no disguise at all. None. Nada.

Boy, it makes them easier to detect!

Man walks oddly into tavern. Bartender looks up.

"What can I get you, Sir?"

"Fatted virgins, servant. And bow down before me or I will rip your heart out with my cl... me hand, and eat it before you."

<pause>

"Uh huh. You're not from around here, are you?"

I don't know what you want. That's perfectly normal talk in every tavern. At least the one I always go to. Funny place, that! Most patrons' names are really long: 8 syllables, and that's the shortest one. And you have to see what happens if you say it wrong. Then those guys get real brutish! Funny how that Ibreltaxe, no, Ibretratz, Ibrel... this guy can lift that counter with one hand, him being such a skinni bloke..... heye Ibbeltaxt... Ibrul? Hey, put that down! NO! Don't hit me with the counter, you bast............

:D

To the matter at hand: I think we can assume that everyone knows at least some basics about the PC-races, so that elvish-looking guy with the skinny arms who threatens everyone to "crush der face to goo" is not acting in character. (After all, we're talking about D&D-elves, not Pratchet-Elves...)

The PCs might not know he's a troll, but they'll think he's a stupid elf.

hey! I had a player who made an elf with a 7 int and a 16 cha ... his toad got up to a 6 int. I ruled that if he licked his toad, and spent a standard action he could make an int check using the combined scores if wanted ...

[edit: um yah, he was a sorc rather than a wizard, oops]
