Trapmaker (similar to rituals)

This feat allows you to construct traps similar to casting rituals. Traps have levels, associated skills, and require blueprints to construct. They have a cost to build and you can set them up to defend an area or a specific treasure.

I made this feat to use with a kobold in a campaign I am playing in. I don't think it's imbalanced because the traps are more defensive than offensive and highly situational. They certainly add to the depth of the character and the ability of the players to prepare.

Please comment on balance and mechanical issues.

Interesting. On first read-through, I like it. Will give this more thought and detailed commentary later.

I suspect it will go well with the "Trapmaster" rogue design a few of us were working on a while ago. Speaking of which, I really need to type up what we had, PDF it, and post it. I suspect "Trapmaker" may fit well as a "bonus feat" for the "Trapmaster" rogue.

That's what I was thinking of! You posted the trapmaster or was it someone else? I was thinking of making kobold weapon training provide proficiency and +2 damage with trap kits. I was also thinking of writing up some powers with the trap keyword, but I think you already made some powers like that.

Somebody else posted the original idea, but I've done a fair bit of work on it since it was last posted; I've got it worked up through about Level 5 as a PC class, and may have to work through it in detail as one of my players is seriously thinking about taking it.

I wish I had .PDF writing capability; its all in .DOC form, which I hate to post anywhere, but the best I can do is use CutePDF to print it as PDF or some such.
