Traps and Treachery

Has anyone seen this book? I personally thing this is really cool (I like all the diagrams.), But I was wondering, who should buy it? let me explain. I have a good DM, and I personaly suck at DMing D&D, but no one else has the cash to be buying new books. So, should I as a player buy the book for the DM to use? Also, how do you handle funding problems like that?

Well, there are numerous things in there for player consumption as well. PrCs, among other goodies like role playing info and advice.

My group used to use group funds and move the books around depending on who was DMing. If you've got four or five guys and eye throws in 2 bucks a shot, after a session or two you've got enough for a module or sourcebook.

The only problem with that is ownership and in my group, we usually let that sit with either the person who was DMing, or the person whose house we were playign at as we mooched off them a lot in terms of pop and consumables.

I have the book and I really like it. That said, on to the real question.

In our group we have four guys. one has yet to actually buy any books. He has been given books for presents, but refuses to buy them. Another has the PHB and feels he can borrow anything else he needs. THe other two (me being on) buy the products we are interesting in, me more then the other guy. He buys stuff he can use, I buy stuff I can use and also stuff of great quality.

What I recomend is buy the products you want to own. If money is tight, it does make some hard choices. Buying for the group is nice, especially to lend to the DM. It's hard to say what's right to do about buying books. Everyone is in different situations finacially. The guy who makes the most money in our group, is also the one with the most debt for instance. I make the least, but have zero debt and the least bit of expenses (read: no significant other). So, I have more to spend on books.

Talk to the group, see how they feel. I think this is something that needs to be handled group by group. I hope this ramble helped in some little way....:D
