Well, we've at last recovered from the big summer show: GenCon. It was a hoot without a doubt. I missed the beer and pizza party that Goodman games had, but my understanding is that Davis (creator Castles and Crusades) was there with young Mr. Alex Gygax. Enjoyed hanging out with everyone and tipping a few back. Mostly enjoyed the great political debate that a bunch of us Castles and Crusaders had until about 330 in the am on Saturday. Enjoyed hanging out with Marcus King from Titan and Heather Barnhorst! But the show itself was the biggest Gencon Troll Lord Games every had. More sales, more product and most of all Castles and Crusades. The small, special item box set was a big hit and blasted through special gencon edition (these will be different that the actual boxed set that begins shipping on Sept. 6 as the art is placed on the cover with an adhesive paper). But everyone seemed to get a kick out of it and some started playing it there at teh show. Johnathan Tweet had the best response of all (after fending off a rather irate RGPA player, with great skill and tact I must say), he thumbed through the books and said: "This brings me back!" Trollzah! Here's one to Mr. Tweet. But beyond Castles and Crusades the Gygaxian Fantasy Worlds were a marvel. For some reason people thought seeing all five volumes in a row was a good thing and they were buying the sets at a crazy pace. It certainly helped that Volume V was brand new for the show. And Barakus, from Necromancer, won an ennie for best d20 adventure! That was pretty cool. Here's one for that crew...who incidently tirelessly worked the booth hawking all things Necro. The only regret was Planet Busters. Tom Wham's game didn't make it to the show as it was delayed at the printer. Had that been there it would have been an even better show! And a special thanks to Phil Thompson and Mark Sandy for putting in LONG hours running the booth and meeting folks. All in all the show was a great hit for us and we look forward to next year with relish! Steve
