One of a pair of psionic twins is in jail, the other is free. They have a telepathic link, allowing them to communicate silently between themselves across great distances, which is a means by which the PCs might be able to contact the outside world while in jail without any equipment, if they can get access to the imprisoned twin. (Or contact those in the jail, if they've got access to the other twin while outside the jail.) One of the prisoners that was experimented on is a morbidly obese humanoid of large stature; the experiments have "hollowed him out" making it possible for a smaller person to "hide" inside the hollow prisoner. The goal was to create the perfect means of disguise, allowing a small-statured assassin to infiltrate anywhere the larger, "outer" person is allowed to be. (It's possible the experimentation was finished elsewhere before the prisoner ended up in this jail; it would be a good place for a PC to "hide" if the need arose (and the "hollow prisoner" could be convinced)). An experiment in creating an assassin capable of smuggling weapons into places they normally couldn't get into: he can force extra-tough bone shards to extrude from his arms, and when "plucked" from his arm bones he now has a stabbing blade. He may have deduced the expected results of the experimentation on him and faked an inability to produce a spike blade, intending to use it to escape when the opportunity arises. (He may be able to produce several such blades if fed enough of whatever it is that allows such rapid bone growth, to help arm a group of prisoners seeking to escape with him.) Johnathan
