It's completely understandable that if you don't like the genre, you won't like the genre as a TTRPG. (For me: Horror. I don't like horror as a genre in general, and if you want to run a horror RPG, then sorry, I can't make it. I have to vacuum the cat.) I also can understand liking the genre but feeling that adopting the genre to TTRPG format causes unpleasant distortions. Some genres and sub-genres call for a solo hero/protagonist, and so need to be run with just one player - and some players don't like that setup. Other genres/sub-genres have two major characters, but the characters spend too much time split up for players to enjoy it in RPG format. (I once played a superhero game with a couple of friends, with one of the friends GMing and me and the other friend each playing one of a team-pair of supers. Only the GM's conception - which I wasn't clear on at first - was for the comicbook style of two protagonists, each of whom mostly do things on independent tracks. The GM and the other friend thought it would be great fun for the non-involved player to silently watch as the involved player's character Did Stuff, until the GM switched focus in the session, and the involved player became the fun-having watcher and the non-involved player playing a now-active character. Only I found watching the other guy play to be Not Fun At All.)
