The briefcase and its worrisome contents are out of sight tucked beneath cans of cooking oil, an old rag wedged in the hinge to keep it from latching. Riko said it'd be a few hours before she'd have anything all you can do is wait now. You settle back into your daily routine, hoping some business will come your way and take your thoughts away from that briefcase and that man. </p><p></p><p>For Daniel...</p><p></p><p>It's a short ride to the comfort of home. You walk your bike in the front door chaining it up just inside. The shotguns get tucked away beneath you bed in a compartment hidden in the floor boards. You check your pagers, no messages...no biz. You set an alarm for 10 AM, Riko better have her answers by then or you might smack her for the lost sleep. As you curl up on your foam mattress you settle into uneasy dreams of cash, guns, and cross-dressers . </p><p></p><p>For Riko...</p><p></p><p>Your hands shake as you get your deck ready to drop into the Net. You eye your door wishing you hand something more than a half empty file cabinet to serve as a lock. You slip the decks gloves and goggles on, rest the keyboard on your knees, take a deep breathe and plunge in.</p><p></p><p>---</p><p><strong>OCC: Riko</strong></p><p>I get increasingly anxious as I try to track down information and it becomes clear I don't have the means to dig any further. <span style="color: MediumTurquoise">I start looking into the hoops I'd have to jump through to get a serious deck and the mods for it.</span> I've been stuck like this plenty of times before, but never even dreamed I'd have the money to go further. My pulse must be through the roof right now, I need to calm down and relax. While I'm looking into it I keep an eye out for anyone I know who might be able to run this avatar ID search for me... I'm hesitant to give it out, but I might to someone I trust.</p><p></p><p>---</p><p><strong>Grandbanks</strong></p><p>I settle down on a stool with my novel, waitin for business, sippin a cold beer. Tastes good, and good for nerves. I'm hopin there's nothing to freak out about, <span style="color: MediumTurquoise">but I keep lookin up from my book out the front, more often than if I was just checkin for customers.</span> Keep catchin myself drummin my knuckles on the copper bar top.</p><p></p><p>This sucks.</p><p></p><p>---</p><p></p><p>All in all the rest of the morning at Eddie's is looking to be a lot less exciting...which ain't a bad thing. A few of the regulars start to drift in by 8:30, mostly boatsmen and 'swains that make their living off the Bay. Soon the griddle is popping and sizzling with all the eggs and silver dollars you're making. You'll turn a good profit even if you can't keep a share of cash thats in the case. By twenty to ten the morning rush is over, most of your patrons wander off on their own errands or to their beds. You settle down on your stool once more sipping a fresh cup. Even with how busy you'd been you kept an eye on the crowd in the street watching for that crazy guy but he's just disappeared it seems.</p><p></p><p></p><p>---</p><p></p><p>For Riko...</p><p>Spoiler: </p><p>[sblock]Your search on the Net's been a mixed bag. Not as useful as you wanted it to be, but at least you got a few leads and an idea of how to keep moving forward. That is if you really want to do that. Doing much more is going to put you into whatever the man with the case is in, to a certain degree. You'll need some of the money out of the case to get a better deck (something that you're eager to do) and to get the 'softs you'll need to track the avatar. Angel, who the f*** uses an avatar like that, has to be millions of them. Getting the word on the data havens looks like it'll be even harder...but if you can it might prove to be the most rewarding part of this whole venture. Now if only you can convince the other two to split the cash with you. The clock reads 9:49, its a bit early but you could stand another cup of coffee before you fall down dead asleep. You grab your and head out the door, hoping the crazy dude is still MIA and that case is still hiding under Grandbanks bar.[/sblock]</p></blockquote><p></p>
