Turn/Rebuke Undead vs Animate Undead

Got a situation and I'm resolving it how I think it would work but here it is for clarification:

A PC cleric in my party I'm dming has just rolled high enough to command 2 of the undead skeletons that a hobgoblin cleric just animated last round. Now...is there any other roll he needs to make to control them (since they were animated and were given the command to attack by the hobgoblin) or does he automatically assume control?

Auto Control-Rebuke Undead was the roll.

The skeletons stand there waiting doing nothing till he gives them the new command (likely to attack the enemy the cleric). Granted the Hobgoblin could steal them back next turn.

It's not in the SRD but I thought that opposed commands become a CHA-check or the like to see how has command (similar to charm person, of course that may be what I'm thinking of anyway).

Just to double check: the Cleric can channel negative energy?
