Two new metamagic feats: Need help with levels

Stalker0

Legend
Endure Spell
You give your spells great endurance against harm.

Benefit: When casting an enduring spell, choose one option:

1) The spell is the subject of a shield other spell, with you as the caster. The spell recieves the benefit even if it isn't a living creature. The duration lasts as long as the spell (infinite if its permanent or instantaneous). The effect may be dismissed as a free action.

2) Your spell has +3 caster level against dispelling effects.

I created option 1 mainly for conjurations and summons, option 2 to give something for everything else. I'm thinking a +1 level adjustment, what do you think?

Shield Spell
You turn your greatest offense into a poweful defense.

Benefit: A spell of instantaneous or permanent duration changes to abjuration, target: touch, and has a duration of 1 round/level. The spell now acts as a barrier that will absorb an amount of energy damage, ability damage, or negative levels equal to the amount of damage it would have caused.
Special: Unlike normal metamagic feats, a wizard who prepares a shielding spell may choose not to transform the spell at the time of casting (although the spell increase still applies).

This feat gives a little more defensive flexibility, with teh special allowing for wizards to have both a defensive and offensive option avaliable when using this feat. I'm thnking a +1 or +2, again what do you think?

About shield spell :

It's usually easier to damage than to protect from damage. (I'm thinking about enervation vs the protect from negative_stuff_spell )

I'd change this depending on the original offensive spell:

- shouldn't require an attack roll (or if so consider half damage?)
- if the spell allowed for a save, only consider half damage.

I'd say the increment in level is variable for this feat (more flexibility):
+1 level , or +2 if the caster wants to choose offensive/defensive upon casting

I think the +1 is fine neither seems to be overpowered. Shield Spell might be halfway between +1 and +2 but on the lower end.

What I would do is make them both +1but make Spell Focus: Abjuration a prereq for both of them.

Also, 'Shield Spell' is a bit clunky, how about the following instead?

Proactive Counterspell [Metamagic]
A spell modified by ~this~ has it's range changed to Touch and it's duration changed to 1hr/lvl and detects as Abjuration in addition to it's original school.

Whenever the selected spell is cast against the warded character, it is Counterspelled as per a Ring of Counterspells. (this expends the Proactive Counterspell)

A spell modified by PC uses a slot +2 levels higher.

I've done some playtesting with autocounterspell abilities, and they can get very powerful very fast. However, I agree the feat needs some rewording, and a new name I don't like shield spell that much myself.
