There wasn't a huge amount new or different from all the other demos. A [S]brief[/S] okay not actually that brief... summary: I gather we were supposed to play the delve, but we were told it required 5 or 6 players and didn't scale well. While the first wave of demos were all packed full, the second wave only 3 people showed up to. So the DM put us through 2 encounters to teach us how to play, in hopes more people would show up in the meanwhile. (none did) We took the pregen Cleric, Ranger, and Warlock (me). Fight 1) 1 Orc. He was a little nasty, chopping up the cleric with some solid hits with his battleaxe, but no big deal. Fight 2) A vicious, evil pit trap. We found it really fast, and the ranger fey stepped across it, but both the cleric and I fell right in trying to jump across. Even though the ranger had a rope to help us not fall and get across easier, we just failed that horribly. I call this a fight cause that stupid hole in the ground was the only thing that ever hurt me. Potentially interesting notes... the DM gave us "Athletics or Acrobatics DC 10 to jump to the side of the pit, DC 20 to jump all the way across." So if we did the easy check we'd have to make 2 instead of 1. He also gave us a +5 for the rope, and when we were stuck on the bottom of the pit, he had the guys on each end of the rope add their str mods together, for a single str check to pull him up. (I had no str check, I couldn't help meaningfully) Yes with all that we still were pwn3d by a hole. Fight 3) Ambushed by a Kobold with a crossbow and a troglodyte. There was also a big glowing pool. The cleric meat shielded, mostly standing and healing himself while the trog beat him up. was going kind of bad for us, so I used my daily, blasting the trog for 25 damage and launching him in the pool. A note that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere yet: massive damage rules- when you take more than your bloodied hp in damage from a single attack, you make a save. If you fail, you're unconscious, making another save each round until you succeed at one. So my attack made the trog black out. ... but apparently it was a healing pool, which 1/encounter triggers a healing surge if you enter it or drink from it. So it was right back up. (apparently any kind of healing restores you from this unconsciousness) DOH >_< So the trog got back up, charged the cleric, and dropped him due to massive damage too. Then I used the sustain on my daily to slide the trog over to the kobold, the ranger Split the Tree them, and dramatically took them both out with one shot. Final comments... Overall, it was pretty fun, aside from our piles of terrible luck. The DM declared at the beginning "this is hack and slash. I don't want to roleplay." and took far longer than I think was necessary to explain the rules, but was otherwise decent. I was worried for our lack of defender, but the cleric was decently up to the task. he got close to going down a lot though. I think having 3 on 1 and 3 on 2 really didn't do a very good job of promoting mobility in combat. We pretty much just stood and hacked at each other, since there wasn't much better position to be gained, and we fought mostly in corridors. One last interesting bit: I asked the DM about multiclassing. He was pretty bad at explaining it, so I'm not sure I understood him right, but it sounded like he was saying... So if I follow correctly, based on the other information given so far, "taking your second level in wizard" means that you're deciding to be a full fighter, but with a "Wizard Utility 2" as your 2nd level power instead of a "Fighter Utility 2" I don't really think this is the full picture, but that's the best I could get out of what he told me. My guess, personally, is the class training feats give you one class feature or something, and allow you to select one power from that class's list when you level in place of one from your own class. -Unlogic PS- Feel free to ask any questions, and I'll answer them if I can...
