InterStrike acquires the intellectual property rights to Jagged Edge Games’ ‘Umbragia’ game Worlds.
Jacksonville, FL – May 20th, 2002 – The Jacksonville based gaming company InterStrike, Inc today announced the acquisition of Jagged Edge Games ‘Umbragia’ property.
Following their recent acquisition of Ral Partha’s ‘Battlestorm’, InterStrike have gone on to secure the rights to produce material from Jagged Edge Games ‘Umbragia’ property. ‘Umbragia’ is a unique setting for Fantasy Role-Playing that takes the assumptions dealing with your typical fantasy game and leaves them behind. Here, the standard classes are not so standard; the people and cultures are not what you might expect; the world itself is one that, although it shares enough with traditional fantasy to be recognizable, has a feel all of its own. InterStrike will develop and publish material based on the ‘Umbragia’ game world for incorporation into its own ‘Shards of the Stone’ series.
Jagged Edge Games K. David Ladage expressed his delight at the relationship, commenting: "I am excited to be working with the InterStrike team. When Jared and I first discussed the idea, it did not take long before we discovered that we have very compatible visions. I feel very honored to be a part of this, and comfortable knowing that UMBRAGIA has found a permanent home."
Jared Nielsen, Chairman of InterStrike, Inc. commented on the company’s acquisition of Battlestorm by adding “After seeing Jagged Edge Games ‘Umbragia’ world we felt that it would dovetail very nicely into our own ‘Shards of the Stone’ series. We approached Jagged Edge on the possibility of acquiring the property, and after discussion they were excited about the possibility of bringing the two worlds together. We look forward to both the introduction of ‘Umbragia’ into ‘Shards of the Stone’ and the further diversity and enrichment it will bring. We also look forward to working with K. David Ladage, as he is going to be instrumental in helping us provide d20 conversion content for the whole Shards project while helping us further develop our own FiveStat realm books”.
Jagged Edge Games will continue to work on the Umbragia material on behalf of InterStrike, with K. David Ladage overseeing it’s continued development, implementation into the ‘Shards of the Stone’ environment, and will also join InterStrike as a creative developer.
