Some quick background: I'm running a campaign where I'm having Orcus (or at least one of his cronies) being one of the arch villains responsible for much of what the PCs will encounter. Being that Orcus's theme is that of demons with an undead twist, I'm going to have them come up against some undead demons. This is where I start running into some logistical problems... First off my understanding of the mechanics of the planes is somewhat lacking. From my understanding if you normally "kill" an undead or a fiend on the prime, they go back to their home plane and usually can't come back for some time. So would an undead demon (one that was killed on their plane and then made undead, I suppose) that is killed on the prime return to the Abyss or the negative energy plane? I would think the Neg. energy plane since the undead aspect seems to take precedence. However if they're being controlled by Orcus or someone in the Abyss, would that change things? To further complicate things, the cleric PC is well on his way to becoming a Hunter of the Dead. In that prestige, there is an ability called "True Death" which I'll quote:Needless to say that really puts a wrench in things. What would happen if an undead demon on the prime were struck down by a Hunter of the Dead with this ability? I guess they'd just die, but I really am unclear in the order of precedence with planar abilities (eg. do their fiendish qualities allow them to return to the Abyss or does the "True Death" of their undead state kill them outright?). The party is still far from this becoming an issue, but I really should get straight the mechanics and logistics of undead demons, them dying on the prime, and them dying by a hunter of the dead. If there's text already covering this in some book that I overlooked, let me know. I've got a large book collection so even a reference to point me in the right direction will help. Thanks in advance.
