Sometimes it’s the place they died, but it can also be where they are buried, a house they grew up in, or a boat they once traveled on. Other ghosts are not rooted, and can travel freely. I’ve yet to discover a consistent cause to reliably predict this behavior.</p><p><strong>Haunt:</strong> Haunts aren’t ghosts. They aren’t lost souls, waiting to be put to rest. Haunts are murderers in life who didn’t quite get their fill in death.</p><p><strong>Skeleton, Full Skeleton:</strong> I see it all the time, whenever bodies aren’t buried quite right. Sometimes there isn’t enough reverence given to the corpse, enough tears shed, some ritual overlooked. Other times it seems the body simply wasn’t ready to die. No matter the cause, the outcome is the same: A decaying corpse, with no muscle left to direct its bones, crawls out of the ground and wanders about. Sometimes it takes weeks. Other times years.</p><p>But the skeletons. It’s usually just people who come back like this, but I’ve seen it happen to a pet.</p><p><strong>Thaco:</strong> I thought it was a man walking. I’ve never been so wrong. The thaco is a curiously unique creature. I know not if it is a ghost possessing abandoned armor, a fallen fighting spirit that hasn’t realized its body has gone, or if simply the armor itself has come to life.</p><p><strong>Vampire:</strong> ?</p><p><strong>Vampire Lord:</strong> ?</p><p><strong>Vampire Underling:</strong> ?</p><p><strong>Zombie, Shambler, Living Dead:</strong> There’s always a cause.</p><p>Sometimes it’s a talisman.
