Undead supehero character needs development.

I was not sure where to put this but need help creating a character for a superhero game be it Champions or Mutants & Masterminds. The concept for the character is a superhero that is either undead through mystical and technical means or interdimensional being that has undead abilities, not sure on the origins but the general idea that his is a link to necrology in some way. He will be carrying a lot of daggers and two short swords (similar to Legolas two swords, in size and close its shape) that is specially made and designed. His powers is the hard part and I wanted to be different in some way. He would be tough to kill almost to zombie status, very quick in melee combat and want to have energy pwoer but sure what.

Any suggestions about the "necro-power" or abilities?

I like it. Sounds vaguely Moon Knight-ish, only dead. There's a lot of mileage in those Egyptian gods of the dead, ancient priests and archeological digs Best Forgot when it comes to dead superhero origins, y'know.

I had a long-standing anti-hero NPC in our superhero game called D.K. He was a skeleton in a bad white '70s suit who talked jive and could turn people to dust with a touch. Hence, he was a very lonely, tragic figure - kinda like Midas of the Disco world.

Hemokinesis. A vampire-ish ability to manipulate blood at a distance.

He could cause blood vessels to rupture in his opponents or cause heart attacks and strokes.

He can shape and harden blood into armor, weapons, etc. Really gross to look at.

He can purify his allies bloodstreams, removing drugs, poisons, disease, etc. He might also be able to transmute any blood into type O-, allowing for simple transfusions.

He may need to consume blood like a vampire to fuel his powers.

I had started to stat all these things up for a GURPS game. If you need those particular cruchy bits, I'll try and get them for you.

Moon Knight is a priest of the eyptian god of "vengeance". Tweak him a bit and make him a cleric of undead with greater powers based on the phases of the moon.

I'd go with half-immunity to damage and possibly a vampiric attack power, not neccessarily fangs or blood drinking, but a power that heals the character when he causes damage.

A Mutants and Masterminds version.

Undead Guy (PL 10 - 150pp)

Str 14
Dex 14
Con 14
Int 14
Wis 14
Cha 10

Attack: +14
Defense: +8
Initiative: +6 (+2 Dex, +4 Super Speed)

Toughness: +10 (Impervious)
Fortitude: +5 (+2 Con, +3 Base)
Reflex: +5 (+2 Dex, +3 Base)
Will: +3 (+2 Wis, +1 Base)

Skills: (none)

Feats: Accurate Attack, All-out Attack, Ambidexterity, Quickdraw, Master Plan, Move-by Action, Sneak Attack.

Powers:
- Immunities: Mind Effecting, Aging, Life Support.
- Protection (Impervious) 10
- Device 2 (Short Swords, Easy to Lose)
- Blast 4 (Autofire 2, Alternate Save: Will)
--Alternate Power (Blast): Drain Constitution 8
--Alternate Power (Blast): Suffocate 4
- Super Speed 1 (Power Feat: Rapid Attack)

Devices:
Short Sword - Strike 3 (Power Feat: Thrown, Mighty)
Short Sword - Strike 3 (Power Feat: Thrown, Mighty)

Trade Offs: -4 DCs, +4 Attack

----------

The Blast is a beam of Necrotic energy that seeks out the soul of the target (hence the Will save, instead of Toughness); with the added bonus of being able to suffocate the target or drain away its life force. Superspeed to represent the quickness (with Rapid Attack to give him an attack vs all within 5'). The short swords aren't anything really special, except that he can add his strength modifier to the damage (giving it a damage bonus of 5; 6 if he gets his Sneak Attack). I was going to give him Immunity to anything requiring a Fortitude Save, but that would've been 30 points that aren't readily available, considering all the different things you want him to do.

For a super-hero game, someone that ruptures blood vessels or causes Con damage might not be quite as in-theme. Some sort of ranged 'sap vitality' attack, based on a Blast with the Vampiric Extra (in M&M terms) would be neat, with an appropriate colored special effect (perhaps a the target feels a wrenching pain and experiences bruising at the point of 'impact' and a reddish pulse of misty force spirals to the outstretched hand of the 'energy vampire,' healing him of damage equal to what he's inflicted). Even that isn't terribly 'heroic,' but it's about on par with Rogue's life-draining touch or Ghost Rider's penance stare.

Normally he'd just attack with his blades, striking to do non-lethal damage against human foes (as the Defender Valkyrie would say, 'striking with the flat of my blade, you are not worthy of the edge...'), trusting in his undead vitality (Super-Con, Immunity 12 (life support, aging, need for sleep, hunger / thirst)) and when he does get hurt, 'topping off' with a quick life-stealing attack. Being able to sense the presence of living foes, perhaps to the level of having Blindsight (detect living) would be a logical side-effect of his powers. He'd be really strong and fast, but not exactly superhumanly so, just functioning more off of willpower than his actual physical body, which is kinda... dead. (His physical strength is no longer a function of those muscles and his reaction speeds don't have anything to do with his long-disused nervous system!)

High ranks in skills like Stealth and Disguise would seem necessary, given his nature, and he might even have some limited super powers in these areas, allowing him to 'clouds the minds of the living' or something. (Represented by the Hide in Plain Sight feat, or a level of visual Concealment (Flaw: Partial or Flaw: only in shadows).)

Regeneration might initially make sense, but it might be more thematic to give him a custom Strike (Vampiric extra) power that only triggers when he is unconscious / disabled. He takes a massive hit and falls over defeated, but some hapless henchman steps up and nudges him to see if he's dead, only to suffer a vampiric attack as the unconscious undead's wounded body instinctively drains vitality from the poor guy to reawaken the Undead Avenger!

For an even more durable version, he might even have Regeneration (ressurection) that only triggers when his 'corpse' is touched by a living person, and he has a source of life-energy to jump-start his undead 'metabolism.'

After thinking more on the character I am go in the direction the merging of the souls, more or less. I am him that even though human body is actually dead, there will some necrotech (with a mix of nanotech)that "animates" the body but their is an interdimensional being that will provide the "will" and powers of the character.

Right now I am trying to figure where this will being coming from? So looking a netherworld or spiritworld that has beings other than the dead souls. Not wanting to the Christian or your typical religion to explain this. If this is an occult side this than cool but not sure.

Got a couple for you! There is Godlike, which is the VERY gritty superhero game set in a world where Supers are JUST emerging... and the first one?\, is a Nazi. Yep, it's gritty WWII with superheroes. Funny thing? the war doesn't change all that much.

For those not familiar with the system: Godlike works on a simple d10 system, where players roll a number of d10's equal to their dice pool in whatever they are attempting to do. Unlike V:tM (where the storyteller sets difficulties and players roll trying to equal or exceed that number) the players are attempting to match numbers among their dice. so rolling 3 dice, achieving 10, 8, and 7 is a miss, but rolling the same 3 dice and getting a 1, 1, and 3 is a success.

Mortimer "Grave" Robert.

A French Resistance fighter who was gunned down in a hail of SS bullets... then shambled back to his feet, and into the history books.

Brains: 2
Body: 3
Command: 1
Coordination: 1
Cool: 4
Sense: 1
Base Will: (command + cool) 5

Poor Mortimer. His last actions when the SS kicked down the door were to light a cigarette and tell them that he was just holding the guns for neighborhood children... of course, his first actions after the Nazis gunned him down were to stand up, look at himself, and declare "Merde, that was my last smoke."

Skills: (20 skill points at character generation)
Tactics: (brains): 2
Brawling (body): 2
Run (body): 3
Intimidation (command): 1
Flamethrower (coordination): 1
Stealth (coordination): 1
Smell (sense): 1
Taste (sense): 1
Sight (sense): 1
Bluff (cool): 3
Mental Stability (cool): 4

Skills in Godlike are rolled as addition to a dice pool. For example, if Mortimer here were to get into a bare-knuckle fight with an enemy, he would roll a number of d10's equal to his body stat (3) and his brawling skill (2) for a total of 5 dice.

Talents: (26pt buy) (this is a SLIGHTLY experienced character)

Regeneration: (3/6/12) Extras: Automatic: (+2/+4/+8) Re-growth (+1/+2/+4) Always On (+1/+2/+4) Flaws: Hunger (-1/-2/-4) Leaves Scars (-1/-2/-4) (end cost: 5/10/20) (dice bought: 2 hard dice: 20 points)

Mortimer's regenerative ability is nearly perfect. no matter how hard he tries, he cannot close up the original bullet holes that killed him. The restoration of his body also comes at a high price; he feels a perpetual urge to gorge himself on flesh of his fallen foes. This odious habit disgusts other allied talents, so Mortimer tries to keep it a secret as best he can.

Create Spawn: (5/10/20) Flaws: Uncontrollable: (-3/-6/-12) (end cost: 2/4/8) (dice bought: 3 soft dice)

Once, after a battle that resulted in numerous enemy casualties, Mortimer picked up one of his kills, intent on consuming it, only to find the corpse writing in his grip! The newly arisen corpse responded violently against Mortimer's attempts to consume it. Though the corpse was easily put down, Mortimer has since accidentally caused several _dozen_ undead to arise as a result of his feeding. and while some have been marginally cooperative (in a mindless sort of way) most seem to exist as purely mindless personifications of hunger. Luckily, these corpses are simple enough to kill, again, requiring only minimal effort.

A word about that funky (x/2x/4x) notation: In Godlike, there are three kinds of dice: Soft dice, Hard dice, and Wiggle dice. Soft dice are ordinary, rolled d10's. you have a 1 in 10 chance of rolling any given number. They are the cheapest kind of dice to purchase as a talent. Hard dice are always 10. this means (a) a pair of Hard dice always succeeds and (b) they always get to go first. Mortimer regenerates at the top of every combat round. The final kind of dice are wiggle dice: (the most expensive kind) Wiggle dice start out as 10, but then drop down to make a match with any other dice in the set. Meaning that if you have one wiggle die, and any number of soft dice, any attempt will succeed!
