Unlike V:tM (where the storyteller sets difficulties and players roll trying to equal or exceed that number) the players are attempting to match numbers among their dice. so rolling 3 dice, achieving 10, 8, and 7 is a miss, but rolling the same 3 dice and getting a 1, 1, and 3 is a success.</em></p><p></p><p>Mortimer "Grave" Robert.</p><p></p><p>A French Resistance fighter who was gunned down in a hail of SS bullets... then shambled back to his feet, and into the history books.</p><p></p><p><strong>Brains</strong>: 2</p><p><strong>Body</strong>: 3</p><p><strong>Command</strong>: 1</p><p><strong>Coordination</strong>: 1</p><p><strong>Cool</strong>: 4</p><p><strong>Sense</strong>: 1</p><p><strong>Base Will</strong>: (command + cool) 5</p><p></p><p>Poor Mortimer. His last actions when the SS kicked down the door were to light a cigarette and tell them that he was just holding the guns for neighborhood children... of course, his first actions <u>after</u> the Nazis gunned him down were to stand up, look at himself, and declare "Merde, that was my last smoke."</p><p></p><p><strong>Skills</strong>: (20 skill points at character generation)</p><p>Tactics: (brains): 2</p><p>Brawling (body): 2</p><p>Run (body): 3</p><p>Intimidation (command): 1</p><p>Flamethrower (coordination): 1</p><p>Stealth (coordination): 1</p><p>Smell (sense): 1</p><p>Taste (sense): 1</p><p>Sight (sense): 1</p><p>Bluff (cool): 3</p><p>Mental Stability (cool): 4</p><p></p><p><em>Skills in Godlike are rolled as addition to a dice pool. For example, if Mortimer here were to get into a bare-knuckle fight with an enemy, he would roll a number of d10's equal to his body stat (3) and his brawling skill (2) for a total of 5 dice.</em></p><p></p><p>Talents: (26pt buy) (this is a SLIGHTLY experienced character)</p><p></p><p>Regeneration: (3/6/12) Extras: Automatic: (+2/+4/+8) Re-growth (+1/+2/+4) Always On (+1/+2/+4) Flaws: Hunger (-1/-2/-4) Leaves Scars (-1/-2/-4) (end cost: 5/10/20) (dice bought: 2 hard dice: 20 points)</p><p></p><p>Mortimer's regenerative ability is nearly perfect. no matter how hard he tries, he cannot close up the original bullet holes that killed him. The restoration of his body also comes at a high price; he feels a perpetual urge to gorge himself on flesh of his fallen foes. This odious habit disgusts other allied talents, so Mortimer tries to keep it a secret as best he can.</p><p></p><p>Create Spawn: (5/10/20) Flaws: Uncontrollable: (-3/-6/-12) (end cost: 2/4/8) (dice bought: 3 soft dice)</p><p></p><p>Once, after a battle that resulted in numerous enemy casualties, Mortimer picked up one of his kills, intent on consuming it, only to find the corpse writing in his grip! The newly arisen corpse responded violently against Mortimer's attempts to consume it. Though the corpse was easily put down, Mortimer has since accidentally caused several _dozen_ undead to arise as a result of his feeding. and while some have been marginally cooperative (in a mindless sort of way) most seem to exist as purely mindless personifications of hunger. Luckily, these corpses are simple enough to kill, again, requiring only minimal effort.</p><p></p><p><em>A word about that funky (x/2x/4x) notation: In Godlike, there are three kinds of dice: Soft dice, Hard dice, and Wiggle dice. Soft dice are ordinary, rolled d10's. you have a 1 in 10 chance of rolling any given number. They are the cheapest kind of dice to purchase as a talent. Hard dice are always 10. this means (a) a pair of Hard dice always succeeds and (b) they always get to go first. Mortimer regenerates at the top of every combat round. The final kind of dice are wiggle dice: (the most expensive kind) Wiggle dice start out as 10, but then drop down to make a match with any other dice in the set.
