[QUOTE="Chaosmancer, post: 7708522, member: 6801228"] I've been reading on another forum, and if I hear people talking about the potential uses for the Sea Curse, they tend to focus on the forced movement or mention the extra lightning damage. Both are cool, but I wanted to think more about the cold, and I had a thought. I know that Ray of Frost activating the curse only reduces by 15 ft, but maintains the curse. I also know from previous discussions that the general consensus is that Quickening Ray of Frost does not stack the movement penalty because it is the same spell offering the same effect. What about Ray of Frost to lay the curse and Ice Knife to activate it? It is not the same spell giving the same effect, and the only limit on the curse is that if the spell already reduces movement, you use the higher. Ice Knife does not naturally reduce movement. So, is that a reduction of 25 ft of movement? Possibly to 2 adjacent targets by Twinning the Ray? If the Ray activated and maintained the curse for 15, and then you quicken Ice Knife and the curse, is that 15 or 30? I think the 25 ft works, but since Curse would need to stack with Curse the 30 might not. Still, it'd be really nasty against a melee enemy if you could reduce them to 5 ft of movement a turn, or keep that 15 ft reduction with just a single Ray and if they somehow get close activate Thunderwave to throw them back 25-30 ft I think the Sea works as a Cold and Tide type sorcerer, really focused on movement and control, and not really all that concerned with getting in melee with their suite of defensive abilities at higher levels. Also, Stone Sorcerer should be renamed to Metal Sorcerer, or Steel, or something like that. It's clearly the thought direction they had and makes much more sense for the types of abilities they have than Stone does. I don't think we could have an effective "Earth Sorcerer" sense their are so few spells that would make sense without making them an Acid and Poison Sorcerer, which really needs more of a venomous soul origin than stone.
