Unhallow on colossal objects, spells attached to unhallow

ok, so my level 15 vampire has a zeppelin, and i want unhallow cast on it, with deeper darkness attached so sunlight cant affect me on my airship. do i have to use multiple castings to cover the entire colossal airship, or does it coat the whole ship plus 40ft radius?

Would you need to cast Unhallow on the whole vehicle? Or would it suffice to only cast it on the (relatively) smaller compartment that would actually hold crew, passengers, or cargo?

I think if it's the latter, you would be able to get away with only using the smaller spell with its normal description.

Sidestepping the question of whether or not the airship is a valid target for an Unhallow spell, the wording of the spell is pretty clear.

So you need multiple spells to cover a massive airship.

Of course, given the cost of multiple spell-infused Unhallow spells, it may be more efficient to pick up a Metamagic Rod of Widen Spell and get an 80' radius Unhallow the first time.

In either case, any Cleric capable of casting Daylight is going to (ahem) ruin his day.

Unless you are playing 3.0, deeper darkness is not going to fully block sunlight. It gets dropped down to shadowy illumination level potency. Whatever that does to the sunlight issue is up to the DM, possibly you, since this sound like more of a BBEG, rather than a PC.

no i am the character, a lv7 char with the vampire template. and according to the deeper darkness spell, it is shadowy illumination, and light type spells cast within it negates both spells and in the overlapping area the prevailing light conditions are present. so someone would have to cast a light type spell to let in the regular sunlight. however, deeper darkness of a higher caster level than the light spell within it would overpower the light spell completely, so a 9th level deeper darkness would only be countered by a 9th level light type spell. (or maybe its caster level, im not sure as im not near my books)

i mean, thats all fine and dandy, i have endure sunlight, and some potions (i forget the name, its from libris mortis and allows me immunity to sunlight for an hour, but light type spells burn it away). so i am good for surviving the sunlight, im just looking for additional protection on my airship. especially since i will have sunlight-sensitive spawn and im not willing to spend the same amount of gold on them to make them able to operate in the sunlight as i spent on myself.

my main question was the interperetation of 'touched point'. i am trying to see if it is feasible to designate the entire structure as the touched point, otherwise multiple castings of unhallow would be necessary to cover most evil citadels and whatnot.

You're mixing up a couple different things there.

Firstly operating Daylight and Deeper Darkness spells always negate each other in their overlapping areas, regardless of caster level or spell level; leaving natural lighting conditions to prevail.

However Daylight can be used to Counter (as Counterspell combat action) or Dispel (as Dispel Magic) any spell with the [Darkness] descriptor of equal or lower level. (Similarly Deeper Darkness vs any spell with the [Light] descriptor)

No. A touched point is just that. A point.

Specifically, when dealing with spell areas, "touched point" means "grid intersection".

You have to pick a Point (i.e., Grid Intersection) where the grid radiates from.

Extending your example to the silly, would you find it reasonable to designate the Great Wall of China as the touched point?

Covering huge areas with powerful defensive spells is expensive and requires multiple castings. That is as intended.
