Unread marker madness

Is it just me, or is anyone else seeing a whole bunch of unread forum markers, but when you actually go into a marked forum, there are no unread markers on any of the threads and when you go back to the forum list, all the unread markers have disappeared?

PS. A couple of things I forgot to mention:

1) It's erratic - sometimes everything's normal other times it's whacky.

2) I think the unread markers I see on the forum list are spurious - ie. they shouldn't be there, but I could be wrong about this.

it's not really "unread threads", it's "threads with new posts since last visit."

"Last visit" is a relative term in this case. If the threads are showing up "new posts" when you get there, then you spend time reading, writing, or otherwise dallying, the next time you click through your current visit has become your "last visit."

Basically, if a certain amount of time has passed all of those threads that were listed as "new posts" will be listed as "no new posts"

Hmmm... I'm having a problem similar to that (in the "software" forum - the only one I visit). It seems to have started when the boards moved to enworld.cyberstreet.com. Ever since then, all my messages that have ever been marked with "new posts", continue to be marked. I've exited & restarted IE, I've rebooted, I've even pushed the "mark this forum as read" button (& restarted). Nothing seems to un-mark my threads. (And yes, I've checked to make sure [both by timestamp and actual content] that there aren't really new messages there.)

I'm getting real tired of reading the same messages over and over.

Any suggestions?

Update: I just had a bunch of markings disappear, but not all of them. This happened after I thought of something stupid I'd done to my machine and got rid of it. Maybe it was contributing to the problem and it will now (hopefully) sort itself out over the next couple of days??

Thanks, but I think it fixed itself when I repaired the stupid damage I did. It took it a couple of days and still has some unexplained things happening occasionally, but I think I'll call it fixed.

Thanks anyway!
