I guess my DMing playstyle in this regard matches very closely to your own and others here, in that I generally instinctively ask for further details about what the character wishes to do. I just have never thought about analysing/theory-crafting the actual how and why of an action declaration like has been done in these two threads (this and the Insight one).I will definitely be more mindful of this going forward and I think it can only but improve my table's play experience.</blockquote>
