"And you fall into a pit" There is a long story behind this. So, the party was on a mission to steal some dragon eggs. The ranger and rogue were sneaking into a black dragon lair to steal the eggs. The party rogue (CN, naturally) was buffed like mad, and had to snatch eggs out from under sleeping dragons. So, he steals three eggs, and is about to carry them out to the ranger, who had built a raft. But, the rogue decides to get some more treasure. He snaps some bags of gold, and sees a sword hilt. He pulls out the sword, fumbles his Dex check, and wakes the dragon. Everyone runs like heck. After a while, we stop running and divide the treasure. He decides not to tell anyone about the "extra" treasure, and says the dragon eggs were all he found. He fumbles his Bluff check, and gives up a bag of gold. "Is that all?" "Yes." fumble, gives over another bag. "Is that all?" "Yes" fumble, gives up the sword. After a bit more of this, he's relieved of leadership (he had been the party leader). So anyways, the only other people were a cleric who was hated by the ranger, the ranger who hated the cleric, a DM (me) NPC, and...A dwarf barbarian. The dwarf takes over leading the party. He decided that he always wanted to walk in front. He fell in many, many, many pit traps. After a while, whenever he did something that took a while (or pissed me off), I would finish off his description with "and you fall into a pit." It seemed funny at the time... The rogue is with me now, and he is protesting that his actions were "in character," and saying that he was "playing his alignment(CN)" and didn't consider it "stealing." Bah humbug.
