Another vote for Red Steel. - Renaissance - Swashbuckling action - Age of Exploration in a PoL setting - Savage lands and ancient ruins and lost civilizations - Red Curse powers - Pistols and long barrel guns - Secret societies controlling the precious remedy to the curse - Racially integrated, meaning civilized races have national cultures It would need some reduction of the "furry" elements, but would bring a need to bring 4e conversion of some classic races like the lupin, rakasta, tortle, aranea, phanaton, and manscorpion. - Dragonborn could fit in the lizardman lands, maybe as gurrash. - Elves and eladrin would be everywhere elves in the original setting were, especially the druid-nation of Robrenn - Tieflings . . . more difficult if trying to be true to the original setting though maybe they could be the offspring of two Afflicted humans. As could changelings or shifters. - Goliaths would have been found in the Black Mountains or the Arm of the Immortals. - Warforged could be clockwork creations Red Steel is perfect for the disposable setting method WotC has been going through, 3 book and out. Red Steel had a metaplot with the Red Curse whereby discovering the cause of the Curse and fixing it can be the end of the campaign right in time for the next published campaign setting to come along. Okay, yeah, its clear l think this could work well. And it's different enough from standard fantasy, yet isn't so different as Dark Sun was.
