The mother, a woman who could be summarised as a trailer-trash junkie, raised Jennifer for a couple of awkward years until dying from a drug overdose. Fortunately, Jennifer was found before anything happened to her as her crying was heard by a neighbour. The father, who never realised the mother was dead (he really didn't care in the slightest), simply kept paying his child-support and putting money into the mother's bank account. Jennifer was raised in a foster home, an experience she wasn't quite thrilled about when she was old enough to consider her situation. This sentiment stuck with her until she was old enough to access her mother's account and get out. The first thing she did with the massive sum of money left to her was finish her high-school education, then go spend some time wandering Europe. In her youth she had developed a fascination in spook stories, ghosts in particular, and later on enjoyed reading ghost stories and getting pictures of ghosts off the internet. So she travelled from supposedly haunted landmark to supposedly haunted landmark, trying to get some ghost stories of her own. The trip lasted a long while, and she saw and learned enough during it to easily convince her of the existence of ghosts. She returned to France, and though still kinda young, started investigating paranormal activities as a paying job. She got pretty good at it, and sooner than later Department 10 caught wind of it and decided to bring her aboard as one of their first operatives. Though she really didn't care who her father was, she thought she'd better find out who he was nonetheless. After a little digging around (made easier by law-enforcement resources) she discovered the identity of her father, and was pretty non-plussed. She met him for lunch and they talked about their lives a little, then went their separate ways once more. To this date she has avoided getting married, having children, etc. She particularly enjoys her career, and dislikes the thought of something other than it taking up too much of her time. [/QUOTE]
