Bits of Mayhem Review

Bits of Mayhem bring to the Modern sets all the little things that you need to help make your city whole. There are cars, a Bus, Garbage Truck, ability to make signs portable now instead of static, etc. I really like what this set brings to the table. For all those modern or near modern games, this set is a gem. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking to spice up their Streets of Mayhem or their Mayhem Armory. The quality of the textures and amount of odds and ends in this set make it a great purchase.

The Good: Set contains all the "bits" of detail that your characters or army needs to have a more believable terrain setting. The Hollywood flat is customizable into different shapes, just like you would see in any city or small town, so you can create an almost endless supply of buildings. There are transparencies for fire and a chainlink fence and there are items for a basketball court. The cars are hot and sleek looking. The bus is nice and compact yet provides an added “Get out of the way” motif the Streets of Mayhem. What I found most useful is the ability to take the signs from streets of Mayhem and make them "portable", meaning they no longer have to be glued to the sidewalk. Now a super hero can pick up a stop sign and cream the bad guy with it. This allows those scatter dice to be rolled with heedless abandon.

There are individual trash cans, 55 Gallon drums as well as 3 packs of barrels. There is a dumpster for the bad guys to drop the heros into. There is so much to this set that it would take a few pages to describe all the Mayhem Goodness in this package.

The Bad: Unfortunately there are no interiors to the building like there was with Mayhem Armory. From my understanding the sets are compatible and you can use the interior of the Armory with this building. I have not tried that yet, but that project is coming soon. There is no ability to change the colors of the bricks unless one uses Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat. It would be nice with the rough looking texture of the building to be able to have a way to change the color (say to a white-ish brick) without kit bashing or having multiple brick colors to choose from.. But this is a very small detail.

Over all I would say this set is a MUST for those who already have the Streets of Mayhem or Mayhem Armory. For those that do not own those sets, this set is still a bonus due to the props that come with it. Check out the World Works Games forums, especially the pictures to see all the ways this set can be used. I know I’m waiting anxiously for the Bits of Mayhem 2 that will contain all the stuff that this set did not. (Like real cars (sedans) and not hot rods) a motorcycle, a limo, etc.
