[sblock=On Charm Person]Yeah, it's not the clearest of possible spells. I've been kind of playing it as if a really beautiful woman had batted her eyes at you and asked you to do something for her, something really stupid that you would ordinarily never do, and you found yourself agreeing without really meaning to. Now you're stuck doing it because you can't bear to disappoint her, and even though you know she's just using you, there's that little spark of hope that doing what she asks might make her like you for real. Don't tell me that's never happened to you in real life. ;) The fact that it's a mind-affecting spell is almost irrelevant. I have it in my head that for nixies, charming someone is kind of like wearing the little black dress and the expensive perfume: just that little bit extra for when you really want someone to like you. Thus, it's in some ways a compliment. I originally considered not allowing Erf to roll on the check to find out what nixies do, for exactly the reason you describe. But I never quite made up my mind one way or the other, and by the time I got to the end of typing the post, I'd forgotten about it. Anyway, think of it as a roleplaying challenge: even though Erf knows that his desire to please Kshatrya is magically imposed, it's still very real and very strong. The challenge for me is to walk the line between railroading and letting you ignore the spell's effect, and I hope you'll call me on it if I slip too far in one direction or the other. [/sblock] ooc: Anyway, enough of that. Can I take it that you've decided to head out for Cragger's Rest, then?
