Use of DMG, PHB, MM in books

In a review, it mentioned that I was not compliant with the D20 system in my books due to my use of MM, DMG, and PHB. I have read this as a criticism for others' works as well, so I decided to post straight from the source.

For those who don't know or haven't looked lately, the D20 System Guide Version 3.0 on the Wizards web site says

"You may refer to the Dungeon Master’s Guide as the DMG, the Monster Manual as the MM. You may cite the Player’s Handbook by title, or as the PHB. You may cite the Psionics Handbook by title. You may cite the d20 Modern Roleplaying Game by title. You must not cite page number references, because pagination may change in future printings. You may cite chapter, heading, and subheading titles from the DMG, the MM, the PHB, the Psionics Handbook, or the d20 Modern Roleplaying Game."

Therefore, anyone using DMG, MM, or PHB in a D20 publisher's book is compliant.

send a note to the reviewer, maybe they'll change it for you.

Agreed - I read that review and wondered what the reviewer was thinking when written.

Just privately email the reviewer in question. Better than making a fuss over it.

I personally preferred the usage of Core Rulebook X or Y, since I'm not too fond of using acronyms in text. I never use GM or DM in any of the stuff I right; it's always game master.

Actually, among by group, we refer to the PHB as the litmus. ;)

I also prefer to use the Core Rulebook 1, 2 or 3 notation in my products. But that is just a personal preference.

I did send a polite letter to the site (since I couldn't find the reviewer's e-mail) with the information above. I do prefer to use the abreviations, as it leaves little doubt as to which book you mean. :)
