Ok this idea came to me after looking at the profeshen stuff from the asgard thing then looking at OA.

Basekly as the caster castes the spell they make a spell craft check to see if they get a higher caster level then they would otherwise be abile to im posting it here 1)to see what you think of the idea 2) to see if im on the right track.

heres the DC to bet when you cast the spell to begin geting any benifits 20+spell level.

use this chart to detemen whats the bonus caster level.
PHP:
30-34 +1 caster level
35-39 +2 caster level
40-44 +3 caster level
45-49 +4 caster level
50-54 +5 caster level
55-59 +6 caster level
60-64 +7 caster level
ect....

Any idea any comments.

If needed ill go with this chart it starts at 20 inted of 30 but it also doent have a DC to bet befor you get the power any way.

PHP:
20-24 +1 caster level
25-29 +2 caster level
30-34 +3 caster level
35-39 +4 caster level
40-44 +5 caster level
45-49 +6 caster level
50-54 +7 caster level

DOOD! Thee's a reason you cast at your level, a skill shouldn't be able to up it. A feat, maybe.

Think of this: you're playing your wizard (16th level) and your party stumbles on another wizard whose just a little higher level than you. But he casts some gnarly spell, buffed up by spellcraft to 20d8 damage- and empowered at that. Boom, you're all dead, and he was only 18th level. Not only that, you can't possibly dispel anything he's cast because its caster level is effectively about 25. To have a chance against a higher-level caster pcs NEED to have a chance of dispelling stuff (the confusion he just cast on your barbarian, for example, or maybe the stoneskin on him).

You seem to have a lot of really good creative ideas but you need to look at the core rules for how things are balanced. As a metamagic feat that maybe increased the spell's level by one and increased your caster level by two or something, I could maybe see this.

Yes why dont I make it a feat

Lets see.

Strengthen Spell [Metamagic]

You can cast spell as thow your caster level was higher than it usly is.

Prerequisites: Int 18+, Spellcraft 10+ ranks, Heighten Spell.

Benefit: You can cast a spell as thow it was two caster level above normel. This metamagic feat take a spell slot one level above numel.

Yeah, that's probably more balanced... good (logical) prerequisite too (heighten spell). Also with a 2-level increase limit you avoid the problem of higher-level spellcasters being unbeatable. Although (again like heighten spell) maybe increasing the spell's metamagicked level by an additional one can increase your caster level an additional one?

:D Keep the ideas flowing!

Sure thing, Larry old chap!:)

Strengthen Spell [Metamagic]

You can cast your spells with a power that is normally beyond you.

Prerequisites: Int 18+, Spellcraft 10 ranks, Heighten Spell.

Benefit: You can cast a spell two caster levels above normal, affecting all level-variable effects, including range, dispel difficulty, and level-dependant damage. Preparing a spell in this way requires a spell slot one level higher than normal.

Westenberger the Jovial likes this!!
