Van Helsing and Hit Points

I don't know if this has been brought up here already or not, it wouldn't surprise me actually, but I had to mention it, as it really jumped me yesterday while watching that movie.

This is what hit points are all about! Falling from a dozen meters, through a hellish machinery that has zapped you with lightning, hitting some support beams on your way down...and then standing up in a flourish, without so much as a broken bone, ready for the next round.

They work well in some games, not so well in others. I like to add in a few extra stages so that people are at least injured and in poor fighting condition before they're dead. But yeah, I don't mind people falling a great distance and surviving in an adventure game. Just like I don't mind fighting in a falling aerial monastery in the elemental plane of air. *grin*

It's worth watching for those 3 hawt vampire ladies! :o

If they had no dialog, I might agree with you.. but they were painful to watch. Sad really when they could probably have a more suitiable career in another part of the film industry...

Oh, it wasn't that bad. It was reminiscent of the kinds of stories and execution common to gaming groups, I think. ;)

True, but then our group tends to rely on less CGI and more acting... except for our Star Wars campaign, where we now only roleplay in front of a blue screen.
