With no noticeable alternation in performance, the airless tire can be run at speeds up to 55 mph for 150 miles. Because an individual cannot tell by look or feel if a run-flat tire is ‘flat’, this modification includes a pressure monitoring system that can alert the driver of low pressure conditions. Run-flat tires that have merely been punctured do not impose a Drive penalty for speeds equal to Highway Speed or less. However, at All-Out Speed, each airless run-flat tire imposes a cumulative -2 penalty to all Drive checks. For example, if two of your tires sustain 4 points of damage each, they are now airless. If you accelerate to All-Out Speed, you suffer a -4 penalty to all drive checks while you remain in that speed category. If one of your airless run-flats loses another 4 hit points, the tire is destroyed. You now suffer a -6 penalty to Drive checks so long as you remain at All-Out Speed (-2 for the airless run-flat, -4 for the destroyed run-flat). Anyone choosing to hold onto the car that takes damage must make a successful Will save (DC 15) or lose their grip. This system uses separate rechargeable power modules that contain enough of a charge to keep the skin of a Large vehicle electrified for up to 2 minutes (20 rounds). For each size category above Large, reduce this duration by 5 rounds. One other very useful feature of this package is the inclusion of a rotating license plate that provides three additional plates, replete with all the proper records (which are perfectly clean and legitimate).
Here's some vehicle modifications I whipped up for D20 Modern. Please feel free to provide feedback on the Purchase DCs. EDIT: By the way, I forgot to mention that the Purchase DCs include the cost of safe and proper installation, as well as any consumable parts/tools. Active Handling This modification is not to be mistaken for the standard active handling systems in today’s more expensive sports cars and luxury vehicles. In fact, it is far more advanced; utilizing cutting-edge technology that yields results far greater than what is available on the open market. This modification replaces the stock control systems, shocks, struts, etc, with top-of-the-line shocks and struts, and a drive-by-wire system that uses an advanced computer and sensitive but precise hydraulics to maneuver the vehicle. This modification increases a vehicle’s Maneuver modifier by +1. It is generally purchased to improve upon the PTG Packages, and/or to further offset the penalties of the NO2 System or the Ballistic Armor Package (assault rating).    Purchase DC: 25. Ballistic Armor Package (Standard Rating) This modification replaces all visible outer body panels, windows, mirrors, and lights with bullet resistant glass and armor plating. This adds 5 points of hardness to the vehicles hardness rating. This modification renders the vehicle nearly immune to small arms fire, and it is commonly purchased along with the Auto-Inflating Tires modification or the Puncture Resistant Tires modification.    Purchase DC: 28. Ballistic Armor Package (Assault Rating) This modification is identical to the ballistic armor package (standard rating) modification, but it adds 10 points of hardness to the vehicles hardness rating instead of 5. However, this extra durability comes with a price. Due to the extra weight, vehicles with this modification have their Top Speed reduced by 15%, their Maneuver rating is reduced by 1, and their cargo weight capacity is reduced by 25%. This modification renders the vehicle nearly immune to small arms fire, as well as even large caliber fire, such as a .50 caliber rifle or machine gun, and it is commonly purchased along with the Auto-Inflating Tires modification or the Puncture Resistant Tires modification. Those concerned about the weight of this armor and the resulting speed and maneuverability reduction should look into the Power to the Ground Package.    Purchase DC: 31. Auto-Inflating Tires This full set of replacement tires can accommodate a standard four-wheeled vehicle. Though not quite as durable as puncture resistant tires, these tires can automatically seal a puncture or blowout and re-inflate three times each. Each tire has a hardness of 1 and 4 hit points. Note: This modification cannot be purchased for a vehicle that already has the puncture resistant tires modification.    Purchase DC: 22. Run-Flat Tires These tires do not actually run flat, but more correctly they simply do not go flat, even when completely devoid of air. When airless, a run-flat tire supports itself – and the car – on a stiffened panel in the sidewall.
