Villainous Plots - What hasn't been done? ;)

So, I'm going to post some possible plots I'm considering for villains, and you tell me if you ever had a villain use that plot, and how things went in the game.

  1. Villain wants to find an ancient artifact that will make him immortal.
  2. Villain wants to make two nations fight each other, so he convinces the heroes of one nation that the other villain is up to something nefarious, which will cause the heroes to attack, and make that other nation retaliate.
  3. Soul of the villain wants to shift the world to the elemental plane of air, where his body was trapped, so he can reunite with his body.
  4. Villain wants to use the blues to rouse the local populace into fighting the ruling Soviets.

#2 was the main plot of my first epic-length module (back in 1982).

I've used variations of #1 and #3 before.

Never got anywhere near #4, but I've only done a few modules that take place in a modern world and never really got into the world's politics.

I played in something like #4 - but to fight the Union army instead of the Soviets. In a Deadlands game. A very good one. :)

#1, #2 and #3 could be combined together to make an interesting mess?

Alright, that didn't take long.

5. The villain is trying to find a mythical avatar of the sea god to make the merfolk loyal to him, so he can assassinate the king who is about to make a voyage over sea to marry another country's princess. He then plans to impersonate the king and marry into royalty.

6. The villain is using clones of historical figures so he can take advantage of their knowledge in creating a doomsday device.

7. The villain is creating a war machine that will crush nearby countries and make them bow to him. Of course the war machine will likely go berserk.

8. The villain is a demon, possessing the body of a sorceress, trying to use a war to build up the body count necessary to summon numerous demons into the material plane, all the while having to keep tabs on one particular hero because that hero is the son of the body the demon is possessing, and if he dies the demon will have to go back.

Hi-

The first villain an alien entity called the Demon Flute heralds the coming of Azathoth Lord of Chaos and insanity.

The Villain want to destroy the world through madness and insanity( agreat way to end a campaign world)

The Villain is a guildmaster of some cities Assassins guild and wants to wage a war with the Thieves guild. Player character Assassins and Thieves would find this very much to their liking.

The Villian is a seriel killer by night but a respected cleric of helm during the day.

The villain is trying to steal Strength, Wisdom, and Charisma so he can use them to die (he is undead).
God I hope my players didn't read that.

And never done any of the above. Though I'm working my way to one of them (insanity), but it will take a while.

Villian is attempting to get a magical artifact to stop bigger, badder villain. Since he's the villain, he uses less than nice tactics to get the artifact, and when the heroes stop him, they find out that now THEY'RE the only hope of stopping the bigger, badder villain.

Haven't tried it yet, but want to! :)
