[OT] Virus festival?

I've recieved over 30 viruses in my email today...

Am I just having a really strange day, or is anyone else getting hit by this right now?

They say things like:

"Your application"
"Have a good day"
"Your Request"
"Approved"
"That Movie"

and an assortment of 'fake' bounce messages, and so on...

Maybe your PC got infected, sent it to others and now gets it sent back as people who are in your address book probably have you in theirs?

But there are more worms and viruses rampant than usual atm ...

Happened to me as well. The same virus hit Yale University where I work. Luckily, my work and home computers are virus-free. Also, if you check out the PVP comic site, Scott Kurtz has been hits as well. We will survive. :)

EDIT: Some details...
A new Windows PC computer virus has been spreading. This virus does not impact Macintosh systems or Unix systems.

There are many possible subject lines associated with this virus, including 'Your details,' 'Re: Approved,' 'Re: Your Application,' 'Re: Wicked Screensaver,' and 'Thank You." The "From" field can be a spoofed address, an address from the infected system, or 'admin@internet.com.' The attachment will be an infectious .pif or .scr file that installs as %windir%\winppr32.exe. This executable will spawn an e-mail process and begin mailing itself out to other machines.
Norton Antivirus took care of things both at work and at home. Just make sure you have the latest updates. ;)

To clean a (windows) computer infected (or indeed to see if you are infected or not) with the Blaster virus:

1) completely disconnect from any internet connection

2) hold down the Alt+Ctrl+Delete button together

3) Click Task Manager ( go to "process" tab )

4) Click the image name column to sort names alphabetically

5) Find MSBlast, highlight it, then click "end process"

6) Close Task Manager

7) From windows explorer ( or by right clicking on your start button ) do a search for msblast.exe on the C:drive, then delete it if found

More info can be found at
http://www.microsoft.com
for deleting the Blaster virus if you need help

Unfortunately, I had the Spybot virus- it completely disables Task Manager, MSConfig, Norton's LiveUpdate and Registry Editor, and several other utilities/programs. Not only that, but the .exe file that it installed on my computer would replicate (using a randomly-generated name) each time I got rid of it. I've spent two days fighting it- FINALLY just got rid of it. I've dealt with several types of virus (my in-laws open and re-send everything they get via e-mail, and, unfortunately, my wife has a tendency to "open first, ask questions later" :)), and this is by FAR the worst I've ever had to contend with...
