Here's an idea:

Since there are so many reports about what's going wrong with the corporate beancounters at Hasbro....

Why don't we send a mass petition or letter to the "powers that be"?

Let's make them aware of what our opinions really are.

I'm sure many of the top folks at WoTC check out these boards and know our opinions, but UNFORTUNATELY (speaking from experience as a corporate drone), they aren't generally the ones that make the final decisions.

The accountants with their spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations have the most pull with the decision makers.

You would think that it would be important to build a solid foundation, rather than going for the quick fix.

I'm all for new settings and all that, but it's the supplements like "Silver Marches" that flesh out the game.

So..... what do you think?

err.. what is to be on this petition?

Support for the Silver Marchs? Isn't that a FR product?

I would be surprised if you could get a consensus to agree on anything worth sending a petition in to Hasbro.

If you want to shape their decisions, then do it with your purchases.

i think if you want to affect them, you must petition with your wallet...sad but true

True.

Besides the test was how many copies of "Silver Marches" would sell within the first 90 days of its release. Then they would make a decision on the crunch vs. fluff topic.

having been on both sides of petitions i can tell you this- what most people in power see when they see a petition is a statement that the petitioners aren't interested enuf for direct action.....again, sad but true

I think that if every single person who posts to ENWorld never bought a WOTC product ever again, no one at Hasbro would even notice the drop.

One things which companies have learned is that Internet fans tend not to be representative, and are a lot louder than they are numerous.

Oh yeah, and besides...

...I want crunch.

I bought FRCS 'cause it was so purty, and Magic of Faerun because it was Crunchy To The Max, but I have no interest in Silver Marches or Lords of Darkness or probably any other FR product. I was one of the customers who abandoned TSR and D&D when they started spewing out worlds and adventures and settings instead of tools I could use. I came back because a:3e was a workable, modern system, and, b:WOTC had adopted a "We give you tools" rather than a "We sell you worlds" business model.

So, sorry little Elves. More doughnuts! Less rum! Or whatever the analogy is this week...
