If a player takes this feat and is a spellcaster how do you handle materials cost?
Allow begging or use xp (1xp = 5gp in cost) or something different?

Actually, he has two options, per the BoED:

1. Other party members may donate expensive components or
2. He could use experience instead of components, though this rule is VERY optional.

Hmm, yeah, it would probably be fine to cast spells with costly material components on others, if they provide the material, just not on yourself.

Well, at epic levels at least, there's always the feat ignore material components.

Pre-epic, the Blood Magus prestige class (Tome & Blood)allows you to take HP of damage in place of material components - even costly ones.
