Message: <blockquote data-quote="orchid blossom" data-source="post: 2714484" data-attributes="member: 12815">I work for the government and this is the case at my job too.  Water club, coffee club, Sunshine club (if you want them to celebrate your birthday), it goes on and on.  When I first started a co-worker teased me saying "Fifty cents to use the microwave."  I didn't know then how believeable it actually was!As for amenities, let's see....  I get people constantly calling my phone who want a totally different department.  We also have an "open" floor plan; which basically means set up like cublicles but without the walls  (hope you like your neighbors!  All five of them.)  We got a hold of some of the short cublicle walls, just to basically have something to hang things on and at least separate the rows,  but they don't have the pieces to hold them up, so we have them wedged up between our desks.  On the upside we are out in the country in a separate building, so we have fantastic parking, where most government workers have to take shuttles from their parking lots.  The cafeteria has Taco Salad day every other Monday, and we get an in house Christmas party, which basically means we get to sit around and snack all day, get fed by our bosses for lunch, and fool around all afternoon.  The bosses also cook us a cook-out lunch in the summer.Lastly, there is a room in our building with 4 showers, (not that unusual), and two fully made beds, right down to the pillows and comforters.  Why are they there???</blockquote>
