I am canceling the monster manual, have friends that can't afford to buy the books and will give these to them when they get here.... But I will now have to find someplace locally to order my books from.

Amazon.com is still listing a ship date of July 8, but also saying that the items are not yet released, and that they have not shipped.

I had also placed an order with buy.com. I called them and they still have no idea when it will ship either. They DO NOT have them in stock yet....

On a positive note in the next couple of days, Buy.com will be running a special (they said that will hopefully combat the delay issue) they will beat Amazon.com's price by an additional 15% off of the books. At least this is what there customer service told me less than 5 minutes ago.

Luckily, I do not really care when they arrive. We won't be switching until January or so. If at all.

I've heard from my FLGS that its being released on the 18th and mine and a friend's Amazon core book orders also read on the 18th. The weird thing is, I opted for the free shipping, which Amazon says should take 5-7 days or something, but my receipt said that the project 'arrival date' would be the 19th......which is only one day.

So everything's inconsistent.......but I think the 18th is the official retail release date still.

I'm in pretty much the same situation. I won't be able to get in on a game until at the very least October, more likely January. New baby on the way any day now.

Still, I hate waiting. Don't these people realize I'm in the MTV generation? I need everyting NOW! Fast food, 24 hour news, and pay-at-the-pump gas stations. Somebody from Wal-Mart should be driving to my house with the books right now, not this ships on the 30th garbage!

I don't know how walmart typically works. I ordered and got the same 30 July message. Will they ship it earlier if it arrives and they get the "ok" from wotc? If not i want to switch cause I just opted for cheapest price as I am poor.

I recieved the same message from Walmart on my order. I'd be upset if I really needed the books, but as it is I'm out of the game for a year or so (MBA). Funny thing is, the exact same thing happened to me with Amazon when 3.0 came out.

I figure I'll get them when I get them, right now saving money is more important than immediate gratification.

Can you really doubt it?

Books don't come out until at least next week, plus I'm sure offering them at 41% off of cover price caused WalMart.com to have an influx of orders. I wouldn't be shocked if the delay is due to requesting more copies from WotC to fill demand.

Hey all,

I'd just like to point out that I will have plenty of the books in stock and I estimate to get all orders out on the 18th!
Getting orders out for the corebooks is my number 1 priority where as it's probably Wal-Mart's #167th priority.

You get what you pay for folks!
