Message: <blockquote data-quote="The Serge" data-source="post: 410271" data-attributes="member: 4049">Well, as for this discussion of Orcus and his stats and what's official...  I already know that I will be using the suggestions in the book to raise him to a Lesser god... and I'll also change his Wand a bit, making it more like the Wand in the original Dungeon Master's Guide from 1ed.Personally, while I do respect the official word, I don't think it has to be the be all end all when it comes to this kind of stuff.... at least with regards to most monsters.  While I tend to be hesitant to use some magic items and spells from secondary (non-WotC sources), I don't have the same problem with monsters.  I do think that Necromancer Games and some of the other folks out there whom I call "Orcusphiles" may want to consider melding the official Orcus stats with their own... assuming the official stats are ever Open License (unlikely).  Frankly, I thought the Orcus from Rappan Thuk or whatever it's called was a little on the weak side in some areas (he should have been calling Demons and Undead rather than summoning them) and I don't know that they took full advantage of using Salient Divine Abilities in a manner similar to how these showed up in Call of Cthulu.  As for posting information to these boards...  As long as no one's posting every last tid-bit, I don't see the hesitancy.  I remember when the Epic Level Handbook came out.  I was happy that people who had access to the book before me were kind enough to post information on it early on because it intensified my desire to purchase it (even though I had already determined that course of action months earlier).  If anything, dropping little bits of information is to WotC's advantage since people on the fence are more likely to purchase it after they get some of their questions answered.</blockquote>
