I wrote this prestige class with the intent of allowing monks to become true masters of the martial arts by gaining a number of bonus feats to acheive mastery of unarmed combat. I wanted to give them some ability at 10th level to reflect that mastery, but I think that the fact that they should qualify for 2-3 martial arts masteries by the time they reach 10th level might be a bonus enough. Anyway, the earliest that a character can qualify for the class is 5th level (as a 3/2 fighter/monk or 2/3 fighter monk) due to the fact that the required mastery of an unarmed combat style requires a minimum of 6 feats (including Improved Unarmed Strike) and the list of bonus feats is exactly the same as the list that allow the monk to trade out their class abilities for (Stunning Fist, Deflect Arrows, Improved Trip and Improved Evasion). Also, if you can come up with a better name to include non-monks who qualify I'd love to hear it.
Wandering Monk
The traditional path of a monks' training begins with mastery of the body and progresses to mastery of the mind, spirit and soul. Those monks begin by attempting to master the martial arts and eventually abandon that pursuit to follow the mysticism that is taught by their masters. Some monks, however, never give up their attempt to master physical combat. They often find themselves ill at ease among their more spiritually motivated brethren and eventually leave to pursue their desire to master the combination of Ki and combat arts. They become wanderers who seek out training from the masters of other martial arts forms in an attempt to create the perfect combat form. Occasionally, however, members of other classes become wandering monks in the hopes of acheiving master of the martial arts.
