want fantasy novel recommendation

I really like the classic and timeless fantasy of David Eddings in the Belgarion books - you could try the first one "Pawn of Prophecy" which is a fun, easy to read, action packed story.
A perfect start in my opinion.

I'll agree with the recommendations for Eddings, he might not be the best author out there, but his stuff is fairly easy to read and shouldn't be too difficult for someone who speaks English as a second language. Don't know too much about the other authors. And game related fiction isn't usually that good.

I enjoyed the Myth-Adventures books. I would also recommend the Sir Apropo books by Peter David. You might want to check out books by Neil Gaiman. Stardust, American Gods, etc. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet is very funny. Not so much fantasy as modern day with some religious\mythological elements (demons, angels, antichrist, etc.)

Thank you for so many recommendations!

Well, I happened to find an untranslated volume of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser at an import book store(in Kyoto) yesterday.
I'm already familiar with these characters and the world, so I'll read that first.
But after this one, I'll try some of recommended titles definitely.

I'm a bit surprised at so many novels you mentioned are already translated into Japanese. Comparing original text and translation might be interesting. And of course I can see translation when I can't understand. :)

As for fantasy novel, I want to write one, too. :o
(Actually, I wrote one(in Japanese, of course) a few years ago but rejected.)

Hey you're Japanese? Cool. I have a question if you don't mind. Would recommend The Guin Saga as good fantasy reading? The first three volumes are available in English, and I've read nothing but great reviews for them, yet I'm still unsure of whether to try them out. Being as they originally came from your country, are they any good?
I haven't read Guin Saga. Guin Saga has 100+ volumes... I'm hesitating to start reading :p
I hear earlier volumes are very good read, but later volumes are not as good.

...Well...I hear later volumes include Yaoi.
I have no objection about that kind of thing, but I have no interest, either.

I normally don't seek out yaoi fiction too, but I've no problem with it, provided it's tastefully done, and done in such a way that's in no way exploitative.

Anyway, thanks for answering my inquiry my good man. :) Arigato gozaimasu.
