At the time of his birth, he had no visible indication of his celestial heritage but as his body began to change as puberty set in, subtle signs of his ancestry began to manifest. First his eyes changed, the irises slowly faded from a soft hazel hue to near-white over three or four months and then over night reappeared as golden as the coin of the realm. In mid-winter his pale skin took began to darken until he seemed permanently tanned, and as manhood drew near, his mouse brown hair turned ash blonde and his face took on features that bore no resemblance to his parents. Despite his obvious changes, Tomas was always loved by his family and admired and respected by the manor servants. An old cook who served in the manor would entertain the other servants each night by telling them tales and playing songs for them with an old, and slightly out-of-tune, lute. The man had spent some time a minstrel and entertainer but had obviously aged beyond the ability to travel and perform for more deserving crowds. While he was a boy Tomas spent many nights in the servants quarters listening to the storyteller and his music. When Tomas turned ten, the old man offered to teach him to play. Tomas spent almost every day with the former minstrel and as his heritage blossomed so too did his skill as a musician. Inspired by the old man’s stories of travelling the open road and performing for the sheer pleasure of applause, Tomas left his family manor when the old man died, taking with him the old lute he was taught with, which he has since had reworked into an instrument of superior quality and enchanted to enhance its tone and his already impressive talent. I hope I haven't missed out too much... it's attached in Word form as well... [/QUOTE]
