First Post
The Le Games is seeking submissions for their upcoming d20 Fantasy books:

-Unorthodox Paladins
-Unorthodox Evil
-Unorthodox Witches
-Unorthodox Kung Fu Masters
-Unorthodox Samurai, Ronin, and Ninja
-Unorthodox Lycanthropes (werewolves, werebears, wererabbits...)

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

Each submission must be for a single class write-up for any of the books listed above. Each submission MUST follow the following sample format:
http://www.thele.com/thelegames/files/previews/UnorthodoxClerics_Preview.pdf
http://www.thele.com/thelegames/files/previews/UnorthodoxFighters_Preview.pdf

For Progression charts and Spell charts, you may use the charts in the SRDs.

Payment is $5.00 per submission, made via paypal, paymate, or business check. Furthermore the author will receive any two books of his or her choice from our library, for free: http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?manufacturers_id=507

To apply, send 1 writeup for the desired book to TheLeGames@yahoo.com. If it is approved, a contract will be sent out. Once signed, payment will be sent. After that, the author may submit more write-ups for the same book or one of the other books. Payment will be made after every accepted submission (we are very prompt when it comes to payment). The Le Games gains all rights to the final submissions as per the contract. All game mechanics are designated as OGC upon publication (ie 90% of your submission).

Submissions can be in flat text, rtf, word-pad, or MS-Word format (preferred). Times New Roman, 11 pt font, 1 inch margins if possible please. Don't mess with format just to pad your submission to make it bigger. If I think it needs to be tweaked up, I will send it back and ask you to do so.

This is an ongoing open call. If I need to close the submission process for one or more books, I will announce it here in this thread.

Questions can be posted here or directly emailed to me at TheLeGames@yahoo.com.

Hey folks. The submissions for UNORTHODOX PALADINS is now CLOSED. James Spahn sent me a dynamite submission and wanted to write all five, so it is now officially his to write.

If you were in the middle of submitting a Paladin class, please still do so. If it is acceptable, I will send you a contract for it (to use for a sequal book), or more than likely work with you to tweak it so that it can work for a different Unorthodox Book.

Thanks.

just classes

Is the search only for classes? I have some undead stuff, but it's more monsters than classes.

For now it is just classes, sorry.

You know, when I first thought about the whole d20 thing, my idea was to come out with a book of monsters... but after doing some research, I realized that the market is FLOODED with monster books, so I decided not to do that.

Sorry.

I received a submission that had alot of mechanics taken from the srds, and when I requested some additional newer mechanics, she replied "your post said I can only use the SRDs".

I need to clarify this. I put in the "use only SRD" requirement because I wanted to make sure that authors do not steal anything from the Players Handbook or any other d20 sourcebooks. New mechanics, new ideas are all encouraged, but please do not take anything from other books.

For example, you can say that your class can cast "Acid arrow" as supernatural ability, because Acid Arrow is in the SRD. But you cannot use the term "Melf's Acid Arrow", which is a copyrighted term that comes from the Players Handbook. Both spells are exactly the same, but one is OGC and the other is not.

Another example is Fast Foward games, who had to remove the following books off the shelves and destroy them: Enchanted Locations: Crypts and Tombs; Dungeon World; Dungeon World: Secrets of the Enemy Capital; and Rings of Power. They had do so because they all contained material that belongs to wotc and was not OGC. Details here:
http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/2636.html

Beyond that, sky is the limit. By all means make up your own d20 game mechanics and rules for your submission. Just make sure that it comes from you your own imagination and/or the SRDs. For example, in my upcoming Unorthodox Bards book I put in a Perform ability that grants the Bard variable Damage Reduction, called War-Song. I did not call it "Warsong" nor did I call it "Bigby's War-song". Taking anything from the Dungeon Masters Guide, Players Handbook, Monster Manual, or any other published book is just a bad idea. This should be true for anything you submit to anyone.

If you have a draft and need help fleshing out your submission, email me and I will assist. You can also catch me on the psionics.net's IRC server (I will be in the Heroclix Channel or the dnd3e channel).

Just have fun with it and be original, and you will be fine.
